Bicycle and Writing?

You’ll ride that bicycle more if you keep it parked in the livingroom, where you can see it.

True. True for bicycling and many other things in life. But in this post I’m referring specifically to my bicycle.

What does this have to do with writing, you ask?

Everything. It’s the little break from the hours spent at the computer and that release from the frustration that it can sometimes bring.

I have been frantically working at getting my re-edited version of The Pirate’s Daughter uploaded to Amazon Kindle and Blurb error free, before the August 21st airing of Pretty Little Liars @ 8:00 pm on ABC. (Error free, funny, ha, ha!). It’s been time-consuming, tedious and frustrating, to say the least.

And, yes, I am still working on it.

So, in an effort to help relieve myself of some of that stress, I’ve started riding my bicycle. It’s been great! Just  a 20 minute ride around the neighborhood and usually after 6:00 pm when the daytime temperature has dropped. I even went so far as to park it in the living room so I’d have it conveniently at hand. I don’t know about you but once something goes in the garage, I usually forget about it until Christmas when I have to move it to get to my ornament boxes.

Until next week @funstuffblogandreviews, write on my friends. Oh, and ride your bike. Or get yourself a hula hoop.

The Trip, Stumble, Fall and Get Back Up Again

Hi.. de.. ho.. Folks! Well, it’s mid-week and time for another edition of “The Trip, Stumble, Fall and Get Back Up Again”, ( the subtitle I’ve just assigned this blog..ha). Been a strange week for me. My spider-sence has been tingling. What I mean by that, for those of you that aren’t well versed in comic lingo…I’ve had the nagging, nearly overwhelming feeling that something was wrong in my little universe. I call it intuition, which I believe most of us possess though we may not always pay attention to it. Needless to say, it has had me quite distracted this week. Fortunately, after having discussed this with one of my sisters, (who, by the way, was having the same thoughts), and making a phone call, I was able to discover what the problem was. I am not at liberty to discuss the details with you but let me just say my spidie-sense was right on. So, don’t ignore that stuff.

On to the subject of my book. I have been plugging away at promoting it, hard when your target audience is 13 to 21 and everyone you know is, well, lets just say..way past that age. I’ve also been preparing, as best I can, for the up coming convention in Vegas. In fact today I received the 20 hardback books I’d ordered from Blurb. Oh, how excited I was to see that box and oh, how my heart dropped when I opened it to find that the title on each and every cover had run off the page. No “R” at the end of Daughter and the “M” in Ransom had been cut in half. It so sucks! Now you’re thinking, “couldn’t she have checked it to make sure that everything fit?” And I did! The soft back looks perfect. Oh,well. Another set of collectors editions, ha! I did go back into the publishing program and  resize the cover image along with adding the ISBN‘s to the copywrite page. Now I’m just waiting to hear back from Blurb to find out whether I’ll need to re-publish or if the corrections can be made to the existing book. Yep! It’s just another day in self publishing paradise. In the meantime, I’ll just keep pluggin’ away.

See you next week 🙂 ~ K.L. Parry

Back In The Saddle Again

Whew! Finally! I’m heading off to Vegas Monday night for some much-needed r&r. It’s been a strange couple of weeks but I’m back in the saddle again. Too slow going trying to update my novel from the “Booksmart program”. It is literally so slow that it takes an eternity to make any changes. So, on the advice of a friend who did a similar type of revision, I’ve decided on a different approach. I am going to create a new book in the program and attach my updated manuscript there. It should go a lot quicker. Now I just need to focus on getting my manuscript updated. I am hoping I can have it all, printed text and e-book, done before the May release of the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. I’d love to hitch a ride on the publicity tails of that.

In the meantime I have created “thepiratesdaughterandakingsransom.wordpress.com. I will post weekly to it, in chronological order, the first chapters of my novel. For those of you that haven’t yet read it, this will be your chance. But I warn you, it’s addicting. Once you start reading you’ll find yourself hooked. Really!
