Honoring Your Olympians
How about those figure skaters?
Well, this year’s Olympic Games have certainly been fraught with controversy. It seems that since day one we’ve been bombarded with daily complaints stemming from improperly functioning hotel doors to poor event conditions and now corrupt judges. Not that I doubt the validity of those concerns, still I can’t remember a time in recent years when so much complaining has been made of the Olympic Games.
The thing most people forget is that we don’t live in a perfect world. Life is not always fair, prejudice will alway be present in some form and the best, most deserving athletes don’t necessarily come home with a medal.
But we can set the example by celebrating the victors, encouraging our defeated to continue on and be proud of those that represented the best and brightest of their nations. That is how you honor Olympians.
Change? Well, that begins in your own backyard. Fairness, tolerance and acceptance is learned at home along with making the best of your circumstances.
Until tomorrow – Write On!
